When nature meets art

Scientific illustrations are not just artwork. They are a kind of art form that is in the service of science. Images have powers. As an old adage goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. Scientific illustration artists draw pictures in such an accurate and detailed way that audiences can understand complicated topics in a simple ways.

For people who can't go out much or have opportunities to immerse themselves in nature, scientific illustrations about nature open a door for them to understand and enjoy the beauty of our ecological system.

Below are some pictures of scientific illustrations taken in a nature history exhibition titled: "Diversity: Nature History Exhibition on Arts of Nature and Science." The exhibition, which is being held at the IOMA Art Center in Beijing, features more than 2,000 pieces of natural history and natural exhibits.
