HK "Localists" must respect core values: Ronny Tong

(CHINADAILY) HongKong’s“localists”shouldsticktoHongKong’scorevaluesoftoleranceandmutualrespect,moderatepoliticianRonnyTongKa-wahurged–ashisthinktankPathofDemocracy(PoD)preparestorecommendcandidatesinthecomingLegislativeCouncilelection.

Thisisthefirsttimeheconfirmedthearrangement.Detailswillbefixedaftermembersgivethenodtohisnomination.TheymightbereleasedinJune,accordingtoTong.

Heacceptedthefactthatsome“localists”mayhaveachanceofbeingelectedtoLegCoinSeptember.However,heurgedthatonceelected,theyshouldactfullyinaccordancewiththecurrentLegCorules.

Tongfeltthat“localist”thinkingwasnotwrong,asHongKongsocietyrespectsdiverseopinions.However,advocatingone’spositionmustnotbedonethroughillegalactions,Tongwarned.

InApril,PoDwillpublishabooktoelaborateitspoliticalplatformandwillalsoorganizefundraisingactivitiestoprepareforthecomingelection,accordingtoTong.
