Taliban gains ground in Afghanistan, many Afghans displaced

The Taliban has taken control of dozens of districts and cities since the U.S.-led international withdrawal on May 1, including 9 provincial capitals in the last few days. The areas under government control are shrinking as tens of thousands ready to flee the growing conflict.

The number of internally displaced people is growing rapidly in step with the Taliban advance. Some experts warn the country’s capital Kabul could fall within 90 days, and that the Taliban's advancement could spark a massive new wave of Afghan refugees.
