Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham on Thursday reiterated Tehran's readiness to provide Lebanon with military assistance in its fight against terrorism, Press TV reported.

The Lebanese army is on the frontline of the battle against terrorism, Afkham said, adding that Tehran awaits Lebanon's response over the arms transfer proposal.

Meanwhile, Lebanon's Defense Minister Samir Moqbel said Thursday that the implementation of Iran's military offer to Lebanon needs the approval of Lebanese cabinet, according to the report.

He held positive negotiations with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and other Iranian political and military officials during the visit to the Iranian capital, Tehran, last week, Moqbel was quoted as saying.

The Lebanese minister said a major objective of his visit to Tehran was to discuss Iran's proposal on the unconditional transfer of weapons to Lebanon's armed forces with the aim of boosting the country's defense against threats of terror.
