One of the two drug traffickers has been shot dead in exchange of fire with the police in Hpa-an, Myanmar's southeastern Kayin state over the last two days, official media reported Tuesday.

The exchange of fire occurred when the police raided the drug traffickers' hut in a village-tract in the state's capital.

The other drug trafficker with injury was arrested, said the New Light of Myanmar.

In the raid, over a dozen rounds of ammunition, long- and short- barrel guns and grenades as well as thousands of stimulant tablets worth of nearly 10,000 U.S. dollars and materials for producing narcotic drugs were seized, the report said.

The police has opened a file of lawsuit against the traffickers.
