At least 19 killed, over 20 injured in Philippines bus crash

At least 19 people were killed and over 20 injured when a bus lost control and plunged off a cliff in the central Philippines on Tuesday evening, according to local disaster operation center.

The accident took place at around 9:30 p.m. local time in San Agustin, a village in Sablayan town, when the bus was heading to the capital Manila.

The driver was among those killed at the site, said Acris Panillo, head of the Sablayan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, adding that the injured were transferred to local hospitals.

Police have launched an investigation into the accident but it is unclear if this is human or technical error.
