Vietnam's communist party to finalize personnel work for new leadership

The 11th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPVCC) on Monday kicked off its 14th plenary session, the final meeting of the tenure.

During the meeting, the CPVCC will discuss and pass the signing of Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), finalize the personnel work for the CPVCC, Politburo and Secretariat for the 12th tenure and prepare for the key leadership positions of the 12th tenure, according to an official online newspaper of the CPV.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the session in Vietnam's capital Hanoi on Monday, General Secretary of the 11th CPVCC Nguyen Phu Trong said the session is of great significance despite the short meeting period.

The 14th session of the 11th CPVCC is scheduled to last till Wednesday.

"We are discussing and deciding final issues in preparation for the successful organization of the 12th national party congress," Trong said, asking members of the 11th CPVCC to uphold the spirit of responsibility before the party, people and state.

The party chief also requested participants to focus on study, discussion and giving comments to complete the outlined programs.

Vietnam's 12th national party congress is scheduled to be held during Jan. 20-28 in Hanoi.

The 12th congress will produce a new Politburo and Secretariat of the CPVCC, which will pave way for the election of the country' s new leadership.
