Hong Kong stocks plummet over 900 points

Hong Kong stocks lost 962.55 points, or 3.81 percent, to close Thursday's morning session at 24,269.06 points.

Due to the shock wave of falling oil prices, Hang Seng index opened 2.27 percent lower at 24,657.67 points on Thursday and then quickly slipped more than 4 percent to 24,117.94 points in the morning session, the weakest level since April 2017.

Aviation sector was among the hardest hit as the U.S. would suspend travel from Europe for the next 30 days starting from Friday local time. Hong Kong's flag airline Cathay Pacific fell by over 3 percent.

Other Heavyweights also saw a decline in stock prices, as Tencent slumped by 4 percent and banking giant HSBC lost over 3 percent.
