Children suffer parental loss in Mexico amid the COVID-19 pandemic

A study released last month by the medical journal The Lancet calls it a 'hidden pandemic' within the COVID-19 crisis, the children orphaned by coronavirus deaths.

Researchers estimated more than one million children worldwide had lost a primary parent or caregiver to COVID-19 by the end of April.

And they argue these children require their own dedicated level of pandemic response. Mexico found to have the highest number of children suffering parental loss.
