The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) has formed a global coalition to stem the negative impact of COVID-19 on the Islamic world, the Morocco-based organization said Friday.

The coalition covers and supplements field projects, executive programs, and envisions to help poor countries address the outbreak of the coronavirus and stamp out its negative impact, said an IESCO statement.

The organization also called on member states, civil society, regional and international organizations, and donors to contribute to the achievement of this coalition's objectives.

On March 3, the Islamic body announced a 200,000-U.S-dollar prize for anyone who will discover an effective treatment or vaccine against the coronavirus.
