More than 120,000 people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus in Cuba since the start of the pandemic with nearly 800 dead. The numbers are coming down, but health authorities are keeping a close eye on new strains of the virus. A major concern here is the large number of children reported with the virus, including babies as well as pregnant women.

The Cuban Health Ministry has a goal of inoculating most of the residents in Havana and other provinces by August. Cubans are hopeful that with the advancement of two homegrown COVID-19 vaccines they will finally see an end to the virus.
