APD | Philippines to extend assistance to Indonesia after devastating earthquake and tsunami

**MANILA, Oct. 09(APD) – **The Philippines will assist close neighbor Indonesia after a series of natural calamities affected the North Sulawesi through a donation of US$ 300,000 through the AHA Center – ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance.

Sources at the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Office of ASEAN Affairs said aside from the cash assistance, the Philippine government will also extend tents, family kits and water purifying units amounting to US$ 200,000.

Indonesia extended assistance to the Philippines in 2013 after Typhoon Haiyan devastated a wide area in a number of regions in the country.

President Rodrigo Duterte is scheduled to leave for Bali, Indonesia tomorrow for the ASEAN Leaders’ Meeting in Bali due to begin on Thursday afternoon.
