Indian farmers and their supporters staged a nationwide shutdown Friday as the protests against the central government’s agricultural reforms rage on.

The protests have been active since November of 2020, with highways and railways into New Delhi shut down by camps, and protesters taking to the streets across India to support the farmers.

According to police reports there are still around 40,000 protestors sitting at Singhu and Tikri near the border of Delhi.

Indian government leaders have failed to compromise or reach any agreement with the representatives of more than 30 farmers’ unions, despite months of negotiation.
