Turkish Coast Guard on Tuesday rescued six crew members from a Russian cargo ship off the Black Sea coast, state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

The "Nefterodoz 29" ship carrying iron drifted by strong winds 1.6 km off the coast of Bartin province, according to a security official.

The cargo, which departed from Russia's Rostov Port, was rescued by a Turkish helicopter after the vessel sent an emergency call.

The six crew members in the vessel were brought to the port nearby immediately.
