Police in north China's Shanxi Province have busted a telecom fraud case which involved nearly 100 million yuan (about 14 million U.S. dollars).

Police in the city of Taiyuan received a tip-off on Jan. 14 that a victim surnamed Li was cheated out of over 1.26 million yuan in a fake Bitcoin investment platform between December 2019 and January 2020.

An investigation team was set up immediately. After a three-month investigation, police locked in a telecom fraud ring and captured 35 suspects on April 15 after more than 30 police teams were dispatched to six provinces.

Further investigation of the case is underway.
