Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said late Sunday in his pre-departure statement before his official visit to the United States that relations between the two countries are "satisfactorily advancing on an upward trajectory."
The prime minister is scheduled to embark on his three-day visit on Monday en-route London.
He will meet U.S. President Barack Obama on Oct. 22, according to the Foreign Ministry.
It is Sharif's second official visit to the United States since he assumed office in June 2013. He paid his first official visit in October 2013.
"We want to expand and augment the scope of U.S.-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue Framework in a multifaceted manner,"he said.
Sharif took the opportunity to highlight his country's sacrifices during the war on terror which will be one of the main items on agenda of his talks with President Obama.
"Being a sovereign country having strong democratic dispensation, Pakistan has rendered unmatched sacrifice in war on terror as a frontline state,"he said.
He said success of the ongoing major military offensive against armed groups in North Waziristan tribal region is a manifestation of Pakistan's unwavering commitment to root out terrorism and extremism from each and every nook and corner of our country.
"We are fighting this war to not only ensure peace and prosperity of our country alone but also to make South Asia, and the region beyond, a hub of peace and development,"the prime minister said. Enditem
