The Air France flight which was escorted to New York's JFK airport Monday by U.S. Air Force fighter planes has been cleared of threat, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

"The plane has landed and has deboarded. There were no incidents or hazards reported on board the flight by either the passengers or its crew. The plane has been cleared," local media quoted the FBI as saying in a statement.

The Air France flight 22 departed from Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris was escorted by two F15 fighter planes to land safely in New York after receiving an anonymous threat in a phone call to the Maryland State Police Monday morning. It was parked at a secure area at JFK airport before being searched.

According to a Maryland State Police Statement, an anonymous call threatening commercial aviation was received earlier in the morning at a Maryland State Police and the information was immediately forwarded to the FBI and the state's fusion center.

Air France hasn't made any comments so far, given that it is a public holiday in France on Monday.

U.S. media also reported that law enforcement and aviation officials are responding to multiple, unconfirmed threats to multiple airplanes bound for different U.S. airports during the Memorial Day holiday. Enditem
