First ever Offshore Support Vessel visit opens to public in Singapore

Singapore Shipping Association (SSA) for the first time showcased the offshore marine sector by inviting the public to visit two state-of-the-art Offshore Support Vessels (OSV) from Thursday to Saturday in conjunction with Singapore Maritime Week.

Singapore's Senior Minister of State Josephine Teo graced the opening ceremony on Friday, and went on board the two high-tech platform support vessels -- "Pacific Legacy" and "VOS Prince", which are moored at Vivocity waterfront promenade.

"Shipping and the wider maritime sector is crucial to the lives we all lead. With over 90 percent of everything we consume being shipped, the important role played by our ships and the brave seafarers who man them cannot be overstated," said Esben Poulsson, president of SSA.

"We hope to raise awareness of this important sector while having fun."

Visitors can take a tour on board the two vessels, view displays of equipment, products and services of offshore marine companies in an exhibition onboard.

In addition, there are 81 Ship Ambassadors on board, all volunteers from maritime companies, to share their expertise and shipping life stories.

According to SSA, it's anticipated that over 4,000 students, industry members and general public would be attending the three-day event.
