On June 2, the annual Shangri-La Dialogue opened in Singapore. In the context of the current game between China and the United States in the Asia-Pacific region, this dialogue is regarded as a contest between the two countries in the Pacific Rim.

Since the United States refused to lift its illegal sanctions against China before the dialogue, it is certain that there will be no direct dialogue between Chinese and American defense ministers.

Chinese representative at the dialogue told the United States: "I would like to send the United States these words: leadership is not hegemony; status depends on actions; actions speak louder than words. The world today is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century. Peace, development, cooperation and mutual benefit are the irreversible trend. I believe that countries that adhere to strategic independence and pursue peaceful development will not follow the US and will not return to the old path of confrontation."

For a long time, the Americans have been trying to use the dispute in the Taiwan Strait, the South China Sea and the East China Sea to pick a fight, and there has been a provocative act of the former Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi who conducted a visit to Taiwan. Now the Americans are using the opportunity of the Russia-Ukraine conflict to increase pressure on China. Therefore, this is the most appropriate time for China to make a tough response to the United States.

We have long believed that the Pacific Ocean is large enough to accommodate the existence of China and the United States, but the Americans are still dreaming of a global hegemony since World War II, while China has gradually grown into the world's second largest economy and has become the "challenger" in the eyes of the Uncle Sam. But China believes that under the impact of the current global economic fluctuations, the world's major economies should unite together since cooperation will benefit all and fight will hurt all. There is absolutely no need for China and the United States to become victims of the White House's global hegemony which serves the interests of some selfish US politicians. The Shangri-La Dialogue is nothing but a stage for the US to show its ambitions, and China’s response is also a "No" to hegemony.
