Reuters made a wrong statement on April 18 that securities mogul George Soros was dead. Soros' spokesperson soon clarified that he was alive and well.
Part of Reuter's orbituary was:
“(Reuters) - George Soros, who died XXX at age XXX, was a predatory and hugely successful financier and investor, who argued paradoxically for years against the same sort of free-wheeling capitalism that made him billions.
Soon after the news spread out, Soros' spokes person said the tycoon is still alive. The 162-year-old news agency also made its own apology statement.
"Reuters erroneously published an advance obituary of financier and philanthropist George Soros. A spokesman for Soros said that the New York-based financier is alive and well. Reuters regrets the error."
