A train in Egypt's Qalyubia province, north of the capital city of Cairo, derailed on Sunday, leaving 97 passengers injured, the health ministry said in a statement.

More than 50 ambulances rushed to the site and moved the injured to three hospitals in the province, it said.

Some local media reported multiple deaths in the accident.

This comes less than a month after a train crash in southern Egypt killed 19 people and injured another 185.
