Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations when he met separately on Saturday with his counterparts from New Zealand, Canada, Peru and Papua New Guinea in the central Vietnamese city of Da Nang, where the 25th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting was held.
China willing to enhance cooperation with New Zealand
China is willing to strengthen cooperation with New Zealand in various areas including high-level exchanges, trade facilitation, security and defense, Wang told New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Winston Peters.

He said China is willing to work with New Zealand to promote exchanges at different levels, build an upgraded China-New Zealand free trade area, and strengthen cooperation in such areas as law enforcement, security and defense.
Wang also briefed Peters on the important achievements of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), noting that China is willing to work with other countries to build a new model of international relations and a community with a shared future for mankind.
For his part, Peters said that enhancing cooperation with China is a consensus goal in New Zealand and that Wellington will continue its friendly policy toward China, stick to the one-China policy, and deepen cooperation in various fields.
He added that New Zealand will work with China to hunt corruption suspects who have fled overseas and will not be a "safe haven" for fugitives.
Wang calls for enrichment of China-Canada partnership
On Canada, Wang said that China and Canada are sending a positive signal to the world by strengthening their strategic partnership in the face of uncertainties in the international situation.

China is willing to deepen cooperation with Canada in all areas and advance the research process of the China-Canada Free Trade Zone, so as to add new connotations to the "golden era" of bilateral ties, he added.
Freeland, for her part, offered congratulations on the success of the 19th CPC National Congress, noting that the congress has profound impacts on both China and the world.
The two countries both support the multilateral process, Freeland said, adding that Canada appreciates China's positive role in the global trade system and in tackling climate change, and is willing to further strengthen the strategic partnership with China.
China welcomes Peru to jointly advance FTAAP
Wang also met with his Peruvian counterpart Ricardo Luna Mendoza and welcomed Peru to jointly advance the process of the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP).

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski charted out the direction for bilateral ties when they met on Friday, said Wang.
Wang welcomed Latin America to vigorously participate in China's Belt and Road Initiative and briefed Luna on the major achievements made at the 19th CPC National Congress.
Peru attaches great importance to Peru-China ties, Luna stressed, adding that Peru is willing to work with China to implement bilateral cooperation mechanisms and deepen coordination and cooperation under such multilateral frameworks as the United Nations and in building the Belt and Road.
China fully supports PNG hosting 2018 APEC meeting
China will fully support Papua New Guinea (PNG) in hosting the 2018 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting, Wang told his PNG counterpart Rimbink Pato.

China-PNG relations have started a new chapter of fast development in recent years, and China is willing to further promote the bilateral ties in joint efforts with PNG, said the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
China welcomes PNG's cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and participation in the 2018 China International Import Expo, he said.
Wang expressed the hope that PNG will adhere to the one-China policy. He also briefed his PNG counterpart on the achievement and significance of the 19th CPC National Congress.
For his part, Pato congratulated Xi Jinping on his re-election as General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee.
PNG is willing to be a sincere friend of China, he said, reiterating PNG's firm adherence to the one-China policy and hope to strengthen cooperation with China in all fields.
He added that his country is confident of successfully hosting the APEC meetings with the support of China and the international community and pushing forward regional integration.
