TV series on Chinese medical teams launched in Beijing

Foreign Aid Doctors, a TV series focusing on the work of Chinse medical teams in Africa was launched in Beijing on Monday.

According to Lyu Shibin, the executive producer, Foreign Aid Doctors is the first film and TV production featuring China's medical assistance to African countries.

Based on true stories, the series aims to show how the Chinese doctors offer professional medical support in Africa and to praise their international humanitarianism, Lvu said.

Since the first Chinese medical team arrived in Africa in 1963, all kinds of non-profit Chinese medical-based services have contributed to the continent's healthcare and saved the lives of tens of thousands of people.

Hu Kun, writer of the TV series, said after reading related documents, he was deeply moved by the selfless devotion of the caring and highly-skilled members of the Chinese medical teams.

As workers in the film and television industry, we have the responsibility to make their stories known to more people, Hu said.

The TV series is produced by Beijing Zhongrenweiguo Film and TV Culture Co. Ltd., and supervised by China Population Culture Promotion Association, a social organization under the administration of China's National Health Commission.
