Singaporean teenager blogger Amos Yee, who was sentenced to four weeks in jail for posting an obscene image online and uploading video with offensive remarks to hurt the religious feelings of Christians, has filed an appeal against both his conviction and sentence, Channel NewsAsia reported on Monday.

According to the High Court's documents, Amos Yee's lawyer Alfred Dodwell filed the notice of appeal with the court on July 9, ahead of the Monday deadline for making an appeal.

Ervin Tan, another of Yee's lawyers, said that they are waiting for a date to be fixed for the appeal hearing at the court. Meanwhile they are working on the grounds of appeal, which will be made public when submitted.

Yee's lawyers have kept in touch with him for instructions, as well as updated him about the status of the appeal.

During the sentencing hearing on July 6, the teenager indicated that he would appeal the conviction and sentence, saying whether this was a crime or not still remains a question and he wanted to determine in the High Court.

Arrested in March, the 16-year-old teenager was sentenced on July 6. As Yee's jail term was backdated since he was in remand, he was free from the court on July 6.
