Malaysia reports 1,114 new COVID-19 cases, total tally jumps to 46,209

Malaysia reported 1,114 new COVID-19 infections on Saturday, taking its total number of confirmed cases to 46,209.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that two of the new cases are imported and 1,112 are local transmissions.

He also announced two new virus-related deaths, raising the country's total number of fatalities to 306.

803 patients have been released after successfully recovering from the disease, raising the total number of recovered cases to 33,772.

Of the remaining 12,131 active cases, 103 are being held in intensive care and 43 of those are in need of assisted breathing.

The Southeast Asian country is one of the little-affected countries by the pandemic in the region.
