Reducing the mortality rate of COVID-19 patients remains a pressing task, said a central government team guiding the epidemic control work in Hubei Wednesday.

More efforts should be devoted to curing the patients, said the central government team at a meeting, calling for the earnest implementation of the country's latest diagnosis and treatment scheme released Wednesday and urging efforts to promote standardized treatment.

It also called for efforts to select therapies and medicines, both western and traditional Chinese, that are effective in treating the disease.
