Taiwan adds three COVID-19 cases after six days of zero reports

TAIPEI, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Three more people tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Taiwan after the island reported no new cases for six consecutive days, the local epidemic monitoring agency said Saturday.

The new patients, a woman and a couple, were believed to have contracted the virus during their trips overseas.

The woman traveled to Australia on Feb. 22, left Australia for Japan on March 24, and arrived in Taiwan on April 30, according to the agency.

The couple traveled to Senegal on Feb. 11 and returned to Taiwan on May 1, the agency said in a statement.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 patients in Taiwan has risen to 432. Among them, 324 have recovered and six have died. ■
