Chinese court upholds verdict of celebrity's son for rape

A court in Beijing on Wednesday upheld the verdict in the case of the teenage son of a well-recognized uniformed tenor, who were given ten-year prison term for rape earlier.

The Beijing Municipal No. 1 Intermediate People's Court announced its verdict in the case of the 17-year-old son of the 74-year-old singer Li Shuangjiang, according to its official account on Sina Weibo, China's twitter-like microblog website.

The junior Li is among five men who allegedly gang-raped a woman in a Beijing hotel on Feb. 7, which has sparked outcry and heated controversy among public.

The singer Li taught at the Academy of Arts affiliated to the Chinese armed forces. The singer's wife also sings.
