Firefighters extinguished a forest fire at 7:40 a.m. on Monday after fighting the flames all night in southwest China's Yunnan Province.

No casualties were incurred while more than 1,200 firefighters and rescuers battled with the blaze, which broke out at 8 p.m. on Sunday in Xiaguan of Dali, said sources with the Dali city government.

The cause of the fire is being investigated while rescuers are evaluating the burned area, the sources said.

The expressway linking Chuxiong with Dali was temporarily closed late Sunday night, but was reopened to traffic early Monday morning.
