An earthquake of magnitude 6.8 struck the Banda Sea off Indonesia at 11:09 p.m. Jakarta time on Friday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
The quake at a depth of 640 km was monitored at 6.74 degrees south latitude and 123.54 degrees east longitude, said CENC.
The country's meteorology and geophysics agency did not issue a warning for a tsunami.
No casualties or property damages have been reported.
