MANILA,Aug.13(APD) – The Chinese Embassy in Manila said they are closely following the case of a handcuffed Chinese national who fell from a sixth-floor window in Las Piñas last Friday.

In a statement released early Monday evening, the Chinese Embassy spokesperson disclosed they welcome Philippine Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo’s statement on the incident where he said the (Presidential) Palace had asked the Philippine National Police to investigate the incident, “and that the Philippines ‘will not allow nor tolerate any kind of abuse inflicted on any foreigner.’”

The Embassy’s spokesperson further said they remain hopeful of the Palace’s “call to put a stop to these illegal acts, as well as the commitment to protecting the safety of Chinese citizens in the Philippines.”

They also called on the Philippine government’s relevant departments to “bring the perpetrators to justice through an objective, fair and thorough investigation, and continue to take concrete and effective measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens in the Philippines.”
