Along the border of China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea lie the Changbai Mountains. They feature the highest peak in eastern Eurasia, about 2,750 meters above sea level. Like a piece of jade, Tianchi Lake lies on the main peak of Changbai Mountain. Its surface elevation is 2,189 meters, and the deepest part of the lake is 384 meters, making it the highest volcanic lake in the world and the deepest of its kind in China.

Every June, the icy Tianchi lake begins to melt. Extraordinary natural beauty can be appreciated while taking in the summer view of Tianchi Lake. Flowers such as alpine azaleas and lilies have recently begun to bloom here, providing the lucky visitors with a unique experience.

The best time to visit Changbai Mountain is September. During the peak seasons, namely June through September, hundreds of flowers blossom on the southern and western slopes - making it an ideal place for escaping from the summer heat.
