18 people evacuated from Paris shopping center where gunmen hide

About 18 people have been evacuated from the shopping center where gunmen held employees hostage Monday morning in Villeneuve-la-Garenne, west Paris, police said.

The police confirmed that none of the evacuees were injured.

A police source was cited by Le Figaro as saying that two or three gunmen entered the Primark shop around 6:30 a.m. local time (0430 GMT) for an attempted armed robbery.

An employee in the shopping center sent a text message around 7:00 am (0500 GMT), saying that she and several others were held hostage by two gunmen, Le Figaro reported.
