Fight against corruption remains difficult, complicated: Vietnamese party chief

Combating corruption is a very important task while the fight remains difficult and complicated in Vietnam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong said on Wednesday.

Trong made the remarks while chairing the 10th session of the CPV Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption held in capital Hanoi.

Trong, who is also head of the 16-member committee, said corruption is still a disturbing issue in Vietnam, reported an online newspaper of the CPV.

The party chief urged the committee to make drastic actions. Among six key tasks stipulated in the 12th CPV National Congress resolution, top two included combating ideological and ethical recession, corruption and bureaucracy, said Trong.

In order to realize these tasks, the Vietnamese party chief urged each member in the committee should be an example of ethics and keep pure moral quality as well as not allow corruption to happen with himself or at his respective agency.In early 2013, the CPV Politburo decided to set up the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption, which is responsible for directing, coordinating, supervising and accelerating the work of anti-corruption nationwide.
