Three people were killed after a small plane crashed into a residential area in Tokyo's suburb area of Chofu city Sunday morning, reported Japan's broadcaster NHK.

The three killed, including two aboard the crashed aircraft and a female in a hit house, were among the four who failed to escape from the accident site where three buildings and two cars caught fire. The other one was rescued by firefighters.

The accident took place at around 11 a.m. local time. Firefighters are on site carrying out follow-up works, according to NHK footage, which also showed the burned houses and tail part of the small plane.

The residential area is close to the Chofu airport, which is mainly served by small propeller aircraft with an 800-meter runway. Enditem
