An international program to realize the challenging Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) which include the reduction of child mortality and improvement of maternal health through partnership was launched today in Manila.

Formally launched by then UN Secretary-General Dr. Ban Ki-moon in September 2010, has mobilized over 300 partners from various governments, multilateral organizations, research and academic institutions and civil societies.

In his remarks, Dr. Qiming Zheng, a medical doctor from Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, expressed his appreciation to the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and their strategic business partner, MEBO International, for bringing the program to the Philippines.

He said it was on September 26,2015 when the EWEC China Partnership Network was formally launched and MEBO International joined the network. He added MEBO International implemented its commitments in Malaysia, Thailand, Egypt and Lebanon from 2017 to 2018 where about 600 cases of women and child patients benefitted from the program.

“Together with MEBO International, Acuherb has been the ambassador of Chinese Traditional Medicine and Medical care in the Philippines since 2004. For the past 15 years, Acuherb has been working on kinds of social responsibilities and integrating social resources to support public healthcare, including supporting first aid to various natural disasters,” he said.

He added with the Philippines’ over 100 million population, “many women and children are suffering from health problems” which would require long-term, sustainable programs.

“We are confident we can go forward because we are supported by the Philippine and Chinese governments, Philippine medical societies and hospitals, Chinese and Philippine enterprises, media and global partners,” he further said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Yongjun Ji, Deputy Director General, Department of American and Oceanian Affairs of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries said the organizers of the launching rites need to be recognized.

“China and the Philippines are close neighbors, friends and relatives separated only by a strip of water and our friendship dates bake to more than 1000 years ago,” he said in his remarks for and on behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Manila.

He traced the historical roots of the Philippines-China friendship.

“Today, China and the Philippines embarked on a new silk road, jointly promoting the Belt and Road Initiative,” he said. He added over the past three years, since Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte assumed power with the strategic guidance of both Presidents Xi Jinping and Duterte, the relations have moved forward steadily and achieved great strides.

He said the launching of the partnership will benefit Filipinos in need as “friendship, which is derived from close contact between peoples, holds the key to sound state-to-state relations.”

He expressed optimism the partnership will definitely deliver tangible outcomes.

In September 2014, Li Xiao-Lin, president of Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, participated in the UN EWEC initiative and announced the establishment of the China Partnership Network where she appealed to Chinese companies, civic organizations and academic institutes to support the program to improve women’s and children’s health.

A year later, Ms. Peng Li-yuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jin-ping, attended the UN EWEC Initiative event and called on the international community to provide favorable attention to the life and health of women, children and adolescents.

In May 2016, MEBO International committed to help through the creation of a global health strategy for women and children and alleviation pain brought about by burns. MEBO, in a briefer provided by the Chinese Embassy in Manila, is acknowledged as inventor of regenerative life science and pioneer of Human Body Regenerative Restoration Science.

In the Philippines, they are expected to implement its “Life Regeneration Plan.” Meanwhile, AcuHerb Marketing International Corporation (AMIC), founded in 2000 and MEBO’s partner in the Philippines, is engaged in importation, distribution and marketing of world-famous medicines, medical devices, medicinal herbs and health supplements.

They are actively promoting Moist Exposed Burn Therapy (MEBT) in the country since 2010. Its products have been used in more than 30 government-run and private hospitals and have treated more than 10,000 patients.
