Pakistani military said Thursday that 327 "hardcore terrorists" have been killed and their 45 hideouts destroyed in North Waziristan tribal region since a major offensive has been launched this month.

There is no independent confirmation of the military claims as media are not allowed to report in the conflicting zone.

The military, backed by fighter jets and gunships, started the operation against the local and foreign militants on June 15.

The military spokesman, Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa, said that 19 terrorists surrendered to the security personnel.

Bajwa told a group of journalists that 10 personnel of law enforcement agencies had also been killed while seven were injured in the line of duty.

He said the operation "Zarb-e-Azb" will continue till all terrorists in that region are eliminated.

The military spokesman claimed that the security forces are also targeting the "Haqqani Network" in North Waziristan during the current military operation.

"There will be no discrimination among the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) groups or Haqqani network, all terror groups are going to be eliminated," Bajwa said.

He said a large number of Uzbeks and other foreign militants are present in North Waziristan, adding that they will all be wiped out.

Bajwa once again reiterated call on the Afghan security forces to tighten security along the border to frustrate any attempt by the fleeing militants to cross the border.

"The Pakistan Army has requested the Afghan military to take action against terrorist hideouts in Kunar and Nooristan provinces, but so far there has been no action taken," he said.

"North Waziristan had become a hub of terror and suicide attacks in the country because planning of such attacks was taking place here," Bajwa said, adding that the operation had been launched only by Pakistani forces and there is no role of any other country.
