**PARIS, Oct. 10 (APD) - **France’s city of Lyon hosted a 2-day international conference to raise funds to fight the pandemic diseases of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria among countries and population in the world, attended by heads of states, CEOs, global health leaders and philanthropists.

The 6th Replenishment Conference held since Wednesday was expected to raise funds to finance international efforts to eradicate those pandemics in countries in the world. Most of the head of states and government leaders attended the event were from African countries.

French President Emmanuel Macron, who hosted the conference in Lyon, expected the event may raise some US 14 billion for the next three years, higher than US 12.2 billion raised in 2016 conference.

The funds would be managed by the Global Fund to support affected countries and populations with a view to saving 16 million lives, preventing 234 million new infections and continuing to finance innovations and improvements for health systems.

The commitment is crucially important if the world wants to see elimination of the three pandemics by 2030.

France was one of the Global Fund founders. The nation is fully committed to the Fund’s governance and has contributed euro 4.61 billion since the Fund was created in 2002. France’s contribution to the Global Fund is the second-largest one.

Donations contributed by governments, philanthropic donors and the private sector will be used to finance health programs in more than 100 countries.

Those three pandemic diseases are responsible for the death of 2.5 million ones in the world every year, reports said. Through the funds raised in the conference some 16 million ones can be saved from the pandemics. Since the founding of Global Fund in 2002, some 32 million have been saved.
