Chinese women, especially those born after 1995, are now focusing more and more on their career development, according to new survey.

Jointly released by LinkedIn China and L'OREAL China on Monday, the survey shows that nearly 80 percent of participants born after 1995 chose either the 'economically independent able woman' (58 percent) or 'unusual cool woman' (19 percent) option when asked to describe themselves, while only 23 percent ticked more traditional 'loving wife and mother' box, China News Service reports.

Only 4.7 percent of women born after 1970 and six percent born after 1980 ticked the "unusual cool woman" option.

At the same time, more than 70 percent of male participants believed that a woman's role is to be a wife and mother. They also want their female peers to be sweet-natured and loving, while women believe that independence and talent can better make them shine.

However, 59 percent of men born after 1995 expressed a willingness to become a homemaker in order to support their other half's career development. This suggests that the social environment now is more tolerant and receptive to women advancing their careers.

"We are glad to discover that quite a few female employees born after 1995 are dedicating more time and energy to their jobs, which shows strong competitiveness in the work field," stated Shen Lin, head of human resources at LinkedIn China.
