Macao SAR govt. vows firm support for HK national security legislation

The government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) has voiced its support for the national security legislation for the Hong KongSAR on Saturday, saying that it will firmly support the central government's decision and safeguard national security.

Stressing that national security plays a vital role in maintaining the long-term prosperity and development of both Hong Kong and Macao SARs, Macao SAR government said in a statement that all Chinese people should take the responsibility to safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests.

The statement came after a draft decision on establishing and improving the legal system and enforcement mechanisms for the HKSAR to safeguard national security was submitted to the third session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) for deliberation on Friday.
