The nine-meter-long ink brush painting, “Jiangshan Ruci Duojiao” (The Land So Rich in Beauty), co-created by Chinese artists Guan Shanyue and Fu Baoshi in 1959.

The painting was inspired by the poem, “Qin Yuan Chun - Snow” written by the late Chairman Mao Zedong.

This poem was written by Mao in 1936 and first published in October 1945, describing the magnificent snow scenes of the north, presenting a grand vision of patriotism.

The painting bears its title in calligraphic writing by Mao.

It shows the magnificent mountains and rivers of China, depicting many famous landscapes including the Great Wall and the Yellow River, forming beautiful scenery and a broad vision.

The painting has added a contemporary touch to traditional art, it’s one of the classics in the history of Chinese art.

The painting was a state commission to decorate the newly built Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Today, the painting hangs in one of the meeting rooms of the grand building.
