An Islamic State (IS) supporter has pleaded guilty of plotting to bomb London's landmark St Paul's Cathedral and a hotel, local media reported Friday.

According to the BBC, Safiyya Amira Shaikh admitted preparing for terrorist acts and disseminating terrorist information during a hearing at the Central Criminal Court of England and Wales, known as the Old Bailey in London.

The 36-year-old was arrested after asking an undercover police officer to supply bombs. Shaikh allegedly went on a reconnaissance trip to plan bomb locations.

Over the two months before her arrest in October 2019, Shaikh built up connection with two undercover officers, said the report.

Justice Sweeney ordered pre-sentence reports and Shaikh is expected to be sentenced in May.
