Nepal's anti-graft body, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority(CIAA), has recommended the government to suspend Inspector General of the Armed Police Force (APF) Kosh Raj Onta and three other APF officers for their alleged involvement in financial irregularities and corruption cases.

The police personnel were found involved in embezzling huge amount of money while purchasing and supplying various equipment for the Armed Police Force of Nepal in the period of two years (2012 to 2014), according to a press statement issued by the CIAA in Kathmandu.

Deputy Superintendents of Police Suman Jung Thapa and Ram Krishna Maharjan as well as Inspector Bin Bahadur Thapa are also accused in the same case. The CIAA will carry out further investigation against the accused police officials in line with the anti-graft laws, officials said.

The CIAA's decision has come a week after the Chief Commissioner of the CIAA said that the anti-graft body will not stop investigation against high-profile individuals who were facing corruption charges.

Sending letters to the 29 individuals some two weeks ago, the anti-graft body summoned them to appear before the CIAA.

This was the first investigation case against high-profile personalities after the appointment of Karki as the head of the anti-graft body in May 2013.
