Juventus forward Paulo Dybala is one of "four of five" players with the talent to become the best in the world, according to former great Michael Laudrup.

"Dybala's in the next generation of these younger players in their early 20s that could take over when Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo step down," Laudrup, 53, told CNN Sport's Alex Thomas.

"I think he has had a fantastic start to the season as well. He's scored five goals in his first three games like Messi and he really is a big talent."

Dybala has found the net every 43 minutes in Serie A this season, propelling Max Allegri's men to the top of Serie A.

Already handed the iconic Juventus number 10 jersey -- previously worn by the likes of Michel Platini, Roberto Baggio and Alessandro Del Piero -- the 23-year-old Dybala will now hope to emulate that success on the international stage, where he's yet to score a senior goal in 10 appearances.

Laudrup, a world class playmaker for both Juventus and Barcelona in his time, knows what it takes to get to the top better than most.

"The only way you can take over is going on the pitch," he says. "You cannot do it by talking. You can only do it by playing well and first of all winning games, like Messi and Ronaldo have done for the last 10 years."
