South Korea's ousted president Park Geun-hye attended on Monday her third trial in Seoul over a corruption scandal that has taken her out of the Blue House and into a detention center.

Park arrived at the Seoul Central District Court in the morning, where she is facing a total of 18 accounts of charges that include abuse of power, bribery and leaking government secrets.

She is believed to have colluded with her longtime friend and confidant Choi Soon-sil, who is also behind bars, to pressure such big businesses as Samsung, to donate huge sums of money to two non-profit foundations in return for political favors.

The former president has staunchly denied all charges in previous trials, which started last week, and maintained her innocence. If convicted, Park could face life imprisonment.

Park's supporters gathered near the court and called for

her immediate release.
