NEW DELHI, August 28 (APD) - In a document titled “ Three-Year Action Agenda: 2017-18 to 2019-20 ” Niti Aayog, Indian government’s premier think tank, has mentioned China 67 times, making experts conclude that the government is looking up to China.

The document, released by India’s finance minister Arun Jaitley on August 24, recognizes China’s economic power and explains how India could improve its deficiencies.
According to a report published in Hindustan Times, the document which is Niti Aayog’s action plan for the next three years acknowledges China’s progress from, “ Special economic zones to job creation, from world-class universities to modern cities, from communication technology to soft power.”
It also stresses that India needs to “replicate” China’s special economic zones develop its coasts by enhancing two employment zones on India’s east and west coasts.
“For Make in India to succeed, the country would have to manufacture for a global market, as China and some other countries do. But for that, Indian products have to be competitive”, emphasized the action plan.
It further says, “The Shenzhen model of urbanization could inspire smart cities. Shenzhen used to be an unremarkable town until 40 years ago but an urbanization push transformed it into a megacity, one of China’s wealthiest.”
Niti Aayog, is chaired by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and its governing council, includes many Union ministers and chief ministers of the country.
