Three luxury yachts have been destroyed in an early morning fire at a Gold Coast marina, local media reported on Wednesday.
The fire broke out at the Marine Mirage complex at Main Beach about 2:30 a.m. (local time) on Wednesday, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).
The yachts, worth about 2 million AU dollars (1.8 million U.S. dollars), had been moored at the complex.
Queensland Fire's Todd Murray told ABC that it had been a difficult operation for the firefighters, with limited water supplies and limited access to the scene.
"We were very lucky. We were able to isolate it just as the three boats that were initially on fire," he said.
The cause of the fire is still being looked into by police and fire investigators.
