Foreign student stabbed to death in Finland

Eastern Finland Police Department said Thursday that a 20-year-old man was suspected of killing another foreign man with knife.

The incident happened in Mikkeli, south eastern Finland, on Wednesday, said the police, adding that both the suspect and the victim were foreign students studying in Finland.

The suspect was caught near the crime scene soon after the killing. He was interrogated by police on Thursday, and his remand hearing will be at Eastern Savo District Court on Friday.

A third person, who was allegedly at the scene when the crime took place, was also questioned, but he was not suspected of a crime.

The motive for the killing remained unknown. Police did not disclose the citizenship of the two foreign students.

At this stage, the case was being investigated as a murder, according to police.
