PHNOM PENH, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen will attend the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation to be held on May 14-15 in Beijing, the Cambodian foreign ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

On the sidelines of the forum, Hun Sen will have bilateral meetings with Mongolian Prime Minister Jargaltulga Erdenebat.

The Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road initiative, known as Belt and Road Initiative, was proposed by China in 2013 with the aim of building a trade and infrastructure network connecting Asia with Europe and Africa along the ancient trade routes.

To back the initiative, China has established the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and the Silk Road Fund.
