The eight newspapers are Daily Eleven, San Taw Chein, Khit Thit Daily, Yangon Times, Myanmar Dikai, Union Athan, 7-Day Daily and D- Wave run by opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

The first batch of eight private daily newspapers granted for publication after scrutiny earlier this month comprise Khit Moe Daily, Shwe Naing Ngan Thit Daily, Union Daily, Empire Daily, the Messenger, Up-Date Daily, Myanmar Newsweek Daily and Mizzima Daily.

There are also five state-run daily newspapers in Myanmar, namely Myanma Alin, Kyemon, Myawaddy and the English language New Light of Myanmar.
